You got it, I had already been in Florence. and I loved it so much that I took my family with me, this time.
"You come with me? Let's go to Florence!"
That's it. We caight the train and foud ourselves at Santa Maria Novella station. And from there, you don't now were to look. Florence is an open-air museum. So I tought I could share with you my tips, my favourites places, event if I love everything, I confess.
And I will take you with me in a dance, between words and pictures.
The Monuments:
You cannot miss the Dome. I find it much more impressive from the outside. If it was not for the Vasari's painting, it would not be that interesting. What is awesome is to climb the stairs until the top of the bell tower, and in the dome. You pay one ticket and can access the both, plus the baptistery. Don't forget to get up early in the morning, so that you do not have to wait. And the sight is stunning.
The Santa Croce Basilica is also very cute. Tehre are plenty things to see. The entry is not free, but there are not that much people.
Do not forget to wear long trousers or a long dress and cover your shoulders. If the weather is very hot, take a cardigan or a big scarf with you.
The Basilica's garden is very cute, there is an underground floor. You can visit the inside of the church and learn a lot about the history of the church or Florence in general.
A Museum:
It is very small, hidden by the enormous dome. But very interesting. It is the Da Vinci Museum, full of reconstructions of his inventions you can try, see, touch. cool with small children.
Ice Creams:
I promise, I have neres eaten such as delicious ice cream as in Florence. You find them every 10 meters
Not useful to advise you, Ice Creams are awesome everywhere. I usually go for dark chocolate sorbet, but what about the berries' one?
The Season:
You'd better go in spring or fall. The weather is good, not so hot, not so cold. Avoid school holidays if you can, and also religious holidays : some monuments are closed.
Do not forget to walk on the Ponte-Vecchio, so cute.
