Snacks & food is social

Food is the foundation of our person.

I think it is as important as education.

You eat to have energy, but not only.

Food gives you energy, makes you happy, helps you stay healthy. But that's not the best part of it.

Food is the ingredient that binds us together.

I love when food gets social. Sharing a meal, sharing our own culture, habits and personality, with one meal.

I cooked with my friends last weekend, we had so much fun, and everything turned out so delicious, I wanted to share it. Plus, I love the way the pictures turned out. There is life, there is happiness, laugh and smiles. They are human.

The Granola Bars:

-Rolled oats, 3 cups

-Pitted dates, 1 cup

-Almonds, 1 1/2 cups

-Raisins, 1/2 cup

-Dried strawberries, 1 cup

-Any seeds and nuts, 1 cup

-Maple syrup, 1 cup

-Almond butter, 1 cup

Heat the almond butter and the maple syrup together until they are well mixed together. Mix all the dry ingredients in a big bowl and add thesyrup-butter mix. Stir well, then put on a baking tray with baking paper and press to make your bars firmer (if you don't it's going to turn out like granola). Let cool down, outside or in your fridge.

"We put the tray outside the window to let the bars cool down, and a squirrel came and ate a bit of it."

Once everything cooled down and is harder, remove the mix from the tray and cut it in bars-shape, of any size you want.

The bliss balls:

-Almonds, 150 g

-Rice protein, 100 g

-Dried fruit, 50 g

-Any seed, 50 g

-Coconut oil, 100 g

-Maple syrup, 50 g

-Cocoa powder if you wish

Put all the ingredients in a blender or a food processor, and process until you get a smooth paste. Form balls with the paste and roll them in ground flax seeds, coconut or almonds if you wish.

Store in the fridge.

These snacks are healthy, but really rich. They are excellent as a snack in the middle afternoon, or after your workout.

Don't be afraid ba the cost of the ingredients, it is really worth it. They are delicious, and if you compare the price in store, it is economical. And you'll have so much fun! Invite some friends over, share the price and share the result! We spent 18$ each for 5 big bars and more then 10 bliss balls.

Enjoy! Love, Maggie
