Minimalist weekend packing

Tomorrow, I am leaving. I am going to the City That Never Sleeps. The Big Apple. New York, New York. The city so nice they named it twice.

I am leaving for three days, a weekend. (I am very excited as you can tell.) So I thought I could tell you what I am bringing with me.

Everything I need for three days. I surprised myself when I started packing. I had so little.

Well, tha's all I need.

One pair of jeans

One pair of leggings

Two t-shirts

One running shirt

One sweater

Three pairs of socks

My pyjamas

My underwear

One pair of sneakers

My rain jacket

My jacket

A tote bag and a light backpack

My "deodorant", shampoo, soap bar, oil, etc. To know more about my bathroom essentials, click here.

Bandages (for my feet)

My phone charger

My phone and earphones

My camera and camera charger

A chocolate bar (I would die without it)

Utensils and a bowl for my breakfast (I will have breakfast at the hotel)

My passport, documents and wallet

I managed to only need a backpack, and I don't think I overpacked. I am not planning on shopping, my goal is to not buy anything but food and maybe a souvenir, so I won't need much more space on the trip back home.

My three criteria when packing are the weather, the number of days I am leaving for and my comfort.

The most important thing is to be comfortable in the clothes that you bring. I walk a lot when I visit cities, so I bring my running shoes. I keep track of the forecast to see what I will need (in this case, it is going to rain, but only on the last day we're there). And as I am leaving only for 3 days, I won't need much.

I used to overpack all the time. When I used to travel by car, it didn't make any difference, but now I travel more by train and backpack as well. So it is very inconvenient to bring too much stuff (to own too much stuff in general :)) if you will not need it.

Do you ever overpack?
